Happy Release Day for The Intern by Brooke Cumberland.

Synopsis
Sheā€™s sexy, fierce, and a loud-mouthed know-it-allā€¦and sheā€™s completely off limits.

Cecilia isnā€™t your typical college student. Hell, she isnā€™t a college student at all, but that doesnā€™t stop her from applying for one of the biggest and prestigious enterprises in the Midwest.

She wants it. She takes it.
She doesnā€™t let anything get in her way when it comes to finding out the truth.

When Bentley Leighton, soon-to-be CEO of Leighton Enterprises, meets ā€œCeci,ā€ heā€™s instantly impressed. He doesnā€™t have time to train a new intern. However, when he sees her that first day, his intentions begin to change.

Heā€™s the boss. Sheā€™s the intern.
Nothing can happen. Itā€™s against the company rules.

Then again, rules were made to be broken.

What starts as innocent flirting becomes raveled up into so much moreā€”secrets, lies, deceit.

*The Intern is a three-part romantic suspense serial.*
Not suitable for readers under 18.

Excerpt
Iā€™m browsing through emails on my phone as I ride the elevator down to the lobby. It halts on the third floor, and I back up to let more people on. I donā€™t lift my head up as the elevator starts again, but suddenly Iā€™m hit with the sound of laughter.
Itā€™s innocent, young, and vibrant. Iā€™m intrigued, so I shift my body to get a better view of her. My eyes find the young girl in the front by the doors. I watch her from the side and notice sheā€™s on her phone. Sheā€™s smiling wide and laughing with whomever sheā€™s speaking to on the phone. The doors slide open, and I walk around a few people to exit, except the girl doesnā€™t move and I crash right into the back of her, pushing us both out of the elevator before the doors close. Instinctively, I wrap my free arm around her waist to catch her from face planting the floor. Her back is pressed against my chest and for a moment, I donā€™t want to let go.
Her phone isnā€™t as lucky. It slips out of her hand and lands on the lobby floor.
ā€œShit,ā€ she curses and my arm frees her to bend down and grab it off the floor.
ā€œIā€™m so sorry,ā€ I begin apologizing as I step back. My eyes wonder to her bare legs and up her tone thighs to a pair of black workout shorts. Sheā€™s wearing a baggy sweatshirt as if sheā€™d been running or working out. I can smell the fresh sweat on her, but it doesnā€™t turn me off. In fact, it does the exact opposite.
ā€œThatā€™s okay.ā€ Her voice cracks as she turns around, and I finally get a good look at her. ā€œOh, Mr. Leighton,ā€ she says surprised, and I immediately curse the bad luck that brings me to my new internā€”Casey West.
ā€œMiss West?ā€ I finally say as she stares up at me in silence. ā€œI thought you werenā€™t coming until Saturday?ā€
ā€œHide your disappointment, Mr. Leighton.ā€ The corners of her mouth perk up into a cocky smile. ā€œI was just picking up the paperwork and doing all the background check questions.ā€ Her witty personality is spot on just like the last time.
Everyone that works or interns at Leighton Enterprises goes through an extensive background check for security reasons. All of the files are confidential, and only journalists reporting on the stories can know the exclusive information.
ā€œAh, yes. Of course, the paperwork.ā€
Paul failed to mention sheā€™d be here todayā€¦
She continues eyeing me, and I wonder if she feels the electricity between us as much as I do.
ā€œWell, Iā€™ll see you Saturday, Mr. Leighton,ā€ she says as she is seductively smiling up at me. She quickly turns around and begins walking toward the lobby doors.
I put my phone in my pocket and shake the thoughts of Casey out of my head. This is crazy. I canā€™t think of her like that. Sheā€™s my goddamn intern.
