Lifeās the shit!
Chicks squeal over how wild and yummy I am, play their silly games trying to tie me down. But Iām free as a bird, doing what makes life life: kicking extreme-sport-ass!
I base jump, snowboard, bungee jump. I do anything for the rush.
Then, Ingela blows into town for collegeāa cool Swedish blast of trouble. Foulmouthed and runway-gorgeous, the girl seeps in like poison and melts the freaking brain.
To Ingela I am what chicks were to me: pastime, leisure, entertainment, pleasure. Sheās killing me, and Iām digging it. Thereās a new rush in town!Yeah, I hunt down my highs, and now the chase is on. Iāll catch her soon enough, just, whatās the deal with her ex?
BO
With Ingela, sex is a dance. A slow tango where skin flows over skin. It is slick readiness, a quiet welcome. Itās smooth, warm, right, and all wrong.

On and off. On and off. Again, sheās wrecked with grief. Itās a reminder of how I destroy her, how crushed relationships shouldnāt be revived.
Weāve done this for years, now, but clearly weāre in for more.

The chase is over. Right here, right now,
this is it. Even if it only lasts
thirty seconds, the rush of what Iām about to do floods me and makes me feel. Itās so intense, every muscle in
my body goes rigid with anticipation.
The air is sharp and early-morning raw. I
stare out from my post on an overhang off Firam Peak. Let my eyes judge the
steep drop into the ravine on the backside of the mountain. Jagged granite
walls form unpredictable patterns that crash to the bottom the way I will soon, and a light dusting of snow
contrasts starkly with the somber stone.
I shake my arms. Not to relieve the tension
but to make sure Iām nimble and ready. I didnāt invite my friends, Dan and
Marek, along today. Iād be better off with someone else around, of course, but
nothing compares to the thrill I experience as I step forward alone. Iām on the
edge now, in every sense of the word.
I draw in a breath of icy oxygen. Crack my
fingers inside my gloves and adjust the strap on my helmet. Iām ready.
Itās so easy to plunge off the cliff. All I
do is heave up on my toes and extend my arms. A light bend at the knees and Iām
off, flying.
Ah, yes. I fly.
So good.
The wind howls around me. Iām fastāIāve
jumped a dozen times into this ravine so the speed doesnāt surprise me. When we
started base jumping, Dan and I would heave ourselves as far out as we could to
stay clear of the rock walls during the free-fall. With the velocity you take
on, the smallest miscalculation will throw you against the ragged stone, toss
you around, and beat you about like a rag doll. Itād be hard to survive.
It gets boring, though, to be careful every
time. Which is why, at this point, to get that rushāthe woozy bliss inundating
my brain for hours afterwardāI simply tip off the edge.
The wingsuit I wear is advanced technology.
I stretch my arms out to the side, the fabric spanning open at my sides. A
familiar sting of disappointment sings through me as I realize Iāll never fly
without the squirrel suit. I canāt even begin to imagine the drug it would be
to base jump with no security equipment. Straight to death, of course. I
chuckle to myself at the thought.
Iām reaching the white ravine floor too
quickly. Fuck, Iām lightning fast. The parachute on my back is a click away,
but I postpone it, postpone itā
Iām
on top of the world!
Iām so fucking alive while I plunge to what
could be my last moment on Earth. I curl my body into a somersault and shout my
rush out in an echo against the surrounding rock.
āWooh-hooh!ā

INGELA
Troy or Roy is the last one to get off his
barstool. Dudeās been on his ass the entire night. Itās three a.m., Iāve
grabbed a broom, and Iām sweeping beneath his chair.
āIngelaā¦ā he slurs out, blinking slowly.
āYou know I like you, right? You mustāve noticed.ā
āUh-huhāyou need a cab, honey?ā I inquire.
āNaw, I was thinkingā¦ do you want to, um,
go on a date with me?ā Heās so drunk I donāt think he had to work up the courage
to ask. Unless you count the months heās been sitting on that stool without
broaching the subject.
āNope, I donāt,ā I say and pat his cheek.
He instantly turns whiny. āWhyyy?ā He drags
the word out like Lyric does. āYouāre such a hottie and shit.ā
I try to lift one of his stool legs high
enough to pull out the wadded-up napkin stuck underneath it. āWhatevs, and you
need to go home. Weāre closed.ā
āOh yeah, but youāll be open again tomorrow
anyway. Or hey, today,ā the smartass says. Stupid me buys into the
conversation.
āIām off to bed, dude. We all have to sleep
at some point.ā
As I stand, he snatches my hand in a
drunken plea. āOh, Ingaāpretty Ingaāsay āyesā to a date? Youāre myā¦ uh. Number
ten.ā
Whatever that means. āNope, donāt want to,ā
I tell him. āGo home or Iām calling Jason to butt you out of here. See ya
later, buddy.ā
He whimpers and stands. Wobbles. Then, he
narrows his eyes at me. āYou Swedes are different, huh? Okay, how about no
date, justāIāll take you straight to bed?ā
From his expression, he thinks heās onto
something. Sure, I could be in that mood. Tonight, for instance, as tired as I
am, I still donāt feel like going home alone. Iād love to wake up with
companyāonly the concept doesnāt involve overly drunk guys Iāve never felt an
inkling of attraction to.
I jump when a strong hand curls around my
upper arm. āTroy,ā Cam says behind me. āLeave Inga alone. Weāll get you a taxi
home, okay?ā
Troyās face slowly morphs to offended as he
plops down on the stool again. āOh, so he
can touch you? Iāve seen you twoāyou let him frenchie you, even. What does he
have, huh?ā
A single snicker hits my ear from Cameron.
āYou think she should be fair? If she kisses me, she should kiss you too?ā
I grin. That is a funny concept. Fairness
in kisses.
The guy huffs, mad. āDonāt get whatās so
special aboutā¦ā He tilts his chin to Cameron but tries to focus on my face as
he speaks.
Cam interrupts, though, letting go of me
and moving over to Troy. āItās time, cuddle-bun. Weāll find you someone nice
tonight if youāre not too hung over, all right? Ingaās busy.ā
āI am?ā I say, catching Camās gaze as he
stacks Troy on his feet and accommodates his arm around his neck to haul him
off.
āAss,ā Troy mumbles but doesnāt resist.
āIām going home with you,ā Cam explains to
me.
I get butterflies at that. At how sure he
sounds when he tells me. He winks over Troyās lolling head and mouths, Stay put.
The Book Fairy Reviews's review
Craving that next adrenaline high can come in different forms for Cameron, but he prefers the thrill of pushing the limits, getting so close to the inevitable he explodes with the thrill of survival. He never thought he could get that high anywhere else. His friends think he is chasing death. They think he can be reckless. They all love him! Beautiful and full of life he crave extremes in all things even with his sexual appetite! Fun, Loyal and loving you couldn't ask for a better friend. That is exactly what Ingela has found in him. Some one to bring her light on her dark days. Some one that gets her humor and jumbling of american saying and brash language. Some one to make her smile all the time.
They call them twins because of all of there similarities, but most just see how they are around each other different than the rest.
He isn't looking for comfortable and steady and she has a complicated past that keeps pulling her under the cloud of darkness. Can they make it together?
OMG this book is extremely funny! If you want a laugh out loud book, that will bring you to tears this is it look no further. Cameron and Ingela are the perfect kind of happy that you can't get enough of. The passion jumps right out at you mixed with dirty talking from Cameron and attempts of dirty talking from Inga who mixes up her English slang is both HOT as hell and hysterical!
I loved every minute of this journey through base jumping and humping. Through darkness and light. Through not so perfect punchlines and kisses. This whole book is a testament to it's title, it is an Adrenaline rush between two covers!
