“I won’t beg,” she whispered in a last ditch effort of preservation.
Moving quicker than a viper, Khalid yanked her onto his lap—face down, butt up. Not liking the submissive position, Olivia struggled against him. He seemed to take delight in her unwillingness because a smile played along his lips, and his pupils expanded until they blotted out the golden color of his irises and made his eyes appear black.
“You don’t have to beg for what I aim to do.”
His hand snaked under her dress and Olivia stiffened. “Please, Khalid, don’t do this!”
“It’s long overdue. You need to be taught that during the time you are with me you must obey me.” Olivia flinched as his hand slid up the back of one thigh to cup her cheek, massaging it before doing the same to the other. “And just so you don’t forget, you must be taught a lesson.”
Fearing the unknown, Olivia tried to scramble off his lap. To her consternation, he thwarted her last ditch effort with a hand pressed firmly against her back.
“Don’t worry, I keep my promises.”
He rubbed his hand over her bottom, and the gentleness of his touch lulled her senses. So much so, the first blow sent a shock to her system. And by the time she associated the burn in her backside to his raised palm, his hand had fallen again. His hand rose and fell, repeatedly connecting with her flesh.
At some point, Olivia lost count of how many times he’d meted out his “lesson”. She couldn’t concentrate on trivial matters when a much bigger problem had reared its ugly head. Khalid’s hands tightened on the horse’s reins, his gaze never wavering from the woman illuminated by the torches lining the dock. His heart was pounding so hard the conversation between his cousins receded into the background.
Only a few more yards and Olivia would finally be his. This time there would be no barriers between them. No bedroom doors, no mixed signals, and definitely no clothes.
Khalid gripped the reins even tighter. His horse objected to the pressure by prancing slightly to the right, colliding with his cousin’s mount.
“What the hell are you doing?” Malik growled as he attempted to control his horse.
“Cut him some slack, brother.” Hassan chuckled. “Our cousin is just impatient for his woman.”
Malik snorted. “Why go through all this trouble for a westerner? There’s plenty of sand in the desert.”
Khalid remained silent. How could he explain his obsession with Olivia Bryant when he didn’t exactly understand it himself? To acquire her, he’d risked his relationship with one of his oldest friends and even his company’s reputation by not competing in the Vanderbilt Cup.
All he knew was that he couldn’t shake his desire for Olivia. She’d embedded herself so deeply under his skin he couldn’t concentrate on anything else but possessing her.
